Vacations in Kenya and Tanzania are becomingly increasingly popular. We cannot resist the chance to get up and close with nature without the inherent risks involved of being so close to dangerous and wild animals.
There is a huge range of accommodation for safari holidays and the choice is down to personal preference and budget.
One type of accommodation is the luxury tented camp, some having less than twenty rooms or tents. They are exclusive and provide a high quality of accommodation; camping in a tent but certainly not slumming it! They offer full sized bedrooms and wardrobe area, with a separate bathroom area.
You somehow feel closer to nature this way it is not uncommon to see an elephant or two walk right past your tent. If you do, do not leave the tent or approach the animal as they can be very dangerous. You are safe in the tent but as soon as you step outside they become aware of your presence!
If this seems a little too close to nature there are also many lodges from basic, less expensive lodges right through to the top of the range ones. They are often situated on a watering hole so you can see the animals from your room or from a viewing area. Close to nature but if you are of a nervous disposition you may feel safer and it is probably better for kids.
